Descriptions of Local Neighborhoods Downtown Historic New Bern Our Downtown is active not only with visitors to the area, but also with locals that take advantage of the quaint shops and restaurants. There are antiques, crafts, art studios, and clothing shops that are primarily owned by locals from New Bern. The restaurants all have a character of their own. From a coffee shop for a quick cup of java to an excellent sit down dinner downtown New Bern has the dining gamit covered. There is also the New Bern Civic Theater where our friends and family members become a part of the drama culture that resembles that of a professional presentation. The historic Tryon Palace also resides downtown New Bern. All within walking distance! No matter the time of day a walk around the Neuse and Trent Rivers in the downtown of New Bern create making for a picturesque setting. A setting that our own Nicholas Sparks has made so visual to his readers. A new Convention Center was built within the last few years along with a new waterfront park at Union Point where we all gather to watch fireworks, concerts or sunrise service at Easter. Come be a part of the rich history in downtown New Bern! The Sheraton Hotel and Marina are downtown and are an intrical part of the fun things to do either singly or as a romantic couple. There is a dock for your boat at the Sheraton’s full service marina. Enjoy live music, with your favorite drink and a Carolina grilled hamburgers or hotdogs while overlooking the banks of the Trent River. The beautiful view include sailboats and yachts in the marina. This makes a lovely backdrop for a romantic picture! In addition to the deck that overlooks the Trent River, the Sheraton has two nightclubs, a gift shop, two excellent restaurants, banquet facilities for large company meetings, suites, and waterfront rooms. BRICE'S CREEK Brice's Creek is a popular neighborhood and makes a fantastic place to live. It is outside the city limits of New Bern, but still only about 10 minutes to our downtown area and a five minute drive to conveniently grocery shop, schools, churches or daily errands. Boating, jet skieng and fishing are essential fun for the residents in the Brice’s Creek area. The homes in this area can be on the water and also off the water in residential subdivisions. Although Fairfield Harbour is one of the most affordable areas for waterfront and golfcourse living, this area went up in price 38% in the last year. RIVERSIDE HISTORIC DISTRICT Riverside is an area in New Bern City Limits on the National Register. This area is just from historic downtown New Bern with a variety of homes in a wide price-range.
